Patio Essentials

Best for: A patio, deck, or covered structure with a primary gathering area

Surface-mounted speakers focused on a single outdoor gathering zone. Clean, direct sound for conversation and entertaining without complexity.

More usable outdoor hours — music that fits the space without overpowering it

Build timing: Speaker locations, low-voltage wire paths, and amplifier placement are easiest to coordinate while hardscape and utilities are still open. Retrofitting after paving requires core drilling and exposed conduit.

Landscape Immersion

Best for: Distributed backyard listening across lawn, garden, and patio areas

Landscape speakers combined with a buried subwoofer for more even coverage across the yard. Sound that follows you through the space rather than fading at the patio edge.

Build timing: Buried subwoofer excavation, drainage, and service access must be planned before irrigation and planting. Speaker locations in planting beds are easiest to set before plants mature. Retaining-wall penetrations for wire runs must be coordinated during wall construction.

Whole-Yard / Multi-Zone

Best for: Multiple outdoor use areas — patio, pool, sport court, garden, covered structure

Coordinated audio across several outdoor zones with independent volume and source control. Each area can play different content or share a source.

Value of coordinating all low-voltage infrastructure during one construction phase

Build timing: Multi-zone systems require planning amplifier and control locations, power, and all wire paths before hardscape is poured. Pool and patio listening zones, speaker locations, and irrigation conflicts must all be resolved during the design phase. Commissioning is significantly easier when infrastructure is pre-planned.

Final speaker count, model, subwoofer count, amplification, control, wiring, coverage, and zone configuration are subject to final system engineering by Black Diamond.

Outdoor speaker product families

TruAudio outdoor audio components are specified by Black Diamond during system engineering. The following product families are supported by the Black Diamond TruAudio proposal. Specific models, quantities, and configurations are determined per project.

Landscape Speakers

Low-profile speakers that blend into planting beds, lawn edges, and decorative rock — designed to disappear into the landscape while delivering clear, wide-coverage sound.

Placement, coverage radius, and quantity determined during system engineering.

Surface-Mount Speakers

Speakers mounted to pergola beams, pavilion ceilings, or exterior walls — ideal for covered structures where a landscape-buried solution is not practical.

Mounting substrate and weather exposure must be evaluated per installation.

Buried Landscape Subwoofers

In-ground subwoofers that deliver low-frequency extension across the outdoor space without visible enclosures — part of the Landscape Immersion and Whole-Yard system directions.

Burial depth, drainage, and base preparation are coordinated during construction.

Distributed Landscape Packages

Multi-zone speaker packages that cover several outdoor use areas with independent volume and source control — the foundation of the Whole-Yard / Multi-Zone system direction.

Amplification, control system, and wiring are specified per project.
