Sandy Backyard — Pavilion, Sod & Retaining Walls

Project overview

This Sandy, Utah homeowner came to Black Diamond Landscape with a neglected front yard and an underutilized backyard. The project scope covered both spaces: a complete front yard renovation with fresh sod, concrete steps, landscape beds, and low-voltage lighting, plus a full backyard transformation anchored by a custom black steel pavilion.

The pavilion features a louvered metal roof, structural steel posts, and an integrated outdoor ceiling fan — providing shade and airflow through Utah's hot summers. The backyard also received a concrete block retaining wall with raised planting beds, a white vinyl privacy fence, river rock accents, and a lush sod lawn with Wasatch Mountain views.

Landscape lighting was installed throughout — illuminating the retaining wall steps, planting beds, and front yard at night. The result is a fully functional, year-round outdoor living environment that dramatically increased the home's curb appeal and usable outdoor space.
